First Scottish Girls' Inter Division MatchesCongratulations to the East Divisional Team [Amanda Edwards, Hannah Harvey, Rachael Livingstone, Jane Turner, Rebecca Watson and Sally Watson] on winning the inaugural Scottish Girls' Inter-Divisional Team Championship (sponsored by BP) at Ballumbie Castle Golf Club near Dundee. The tournament featured foursomes-only ties with each team consisting of six players East beat West 3-0 in the final. North, who had been beaten 2-1 by East in Saturday's semi-finals, won the third-place play-off by 2 1/2-1/2 against South. In the Final Sally Watson (Elie & Earlsferry), and Rachael Livingstone
(Musselburgh Old) came back from two down after 11 holes to West's Megan Briggs
(Kilmacolm) and Debbie Neilson (Hilton Park) to win by one hole. The decisive
hole was the par-5 17th where Rachael got home with a three-wood second shot and
Sally holed a 35ft putt for an eagle 3. That put the East pair in the lead for
the first time and they halved the last hole. Iin the semi-finals played on Saturday - East were the pre-tournament favourites but North pushed them hard. Sally Watson and Rachael Livingstone won the first match, beating Rebecca Wilson and Sally Kettlewell by 3 and 2 after being pulled back to all square at the 12th. Rebecca and Sally three-putted the 10th and 11th to let Sally and Rachael off with halves but drew level by winning the 12th. The East pair then dovetailed well to win the 13th, 15th and 16th. Michele Thomson and Laura Murray, the strongest of North's three partnerships, played well in winning by 4 and 3 over Jane Turner and Amanda Edwards. Rebecca Watson and Hannah Harvey established a big lead early on against Ashton Ingram and Michelle McDonald and never looked back, going on to win by 6 and 5. Details |
