The Gibson Challenge Cup
Foursomes Competition on Braids No. 1
The Gibson Challenge Cup was first presented in 1907 and provides
a wonderful opportunity to play foursomes golf and to compete
in one of the oldest golf tournaments for ladies in the Edinburgh
area. It is a handicap competition and this year is being held
over the weekend of Saturday 1st and Sunday 2nd October so if
your diary is free that weekend, do find yourself a partner and
enter.
Played over Braids No.1 Golf Course, the format includes a medal
foursomes qualifying round (off handicap, max 30) with the opportunity
to play at least once more over the Braids -all for the entry
fee of only £16 per couple.
The four best net scores from the Saturday morning qualifying
round go through to the matchplay knock-out stages and a Consolation
Plate is played for using the Stableford points scoring system
following the Sunday morning semi-finals. Competitors need to
be available on the morning of Saturday 1st October and, if they
wish to and qualify to take part in the matchplay stages, should
be available both Sunday morning and afternoon.
